Does Anybody Here Remember Vera Lynn? - Dame Tops Album Charts

My favorite song from Pink Floyd’s 1979 album, The Wall was “Vera Lynn.”

As a 17-year-old American, I didn’t know Vera was a real person, or that she had a song “We’ll Meet Again.”

The lyrics (see below) are much clearer to me now, although, the idea of the song was never lost on me.

Apparently, the British record buying public do remember Dame Vera as her greatest hits have gone to number one, making her the oldest living person to achieve such a distinction.

Unbelievably enough, the World War II era singer has made it to the top against the re-mastered versions of all the great Beatles’ albums.

Dame Vera, Dame Vera, what has become of you?

You have gone to the top again, now aged ninety-two.

Pink Floyd’s 1979 Classic:

Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn?

Remember how she said that, we would meet again, on some sunny day?

Vera! Vera!

What has become of you?

Does anybody else in here, feel the way I do?
