Janet Jackson: The Best/Number Ones - My Album Review
So last week one of the CD’s I picked up was Janet Jackson’s: The Best, her latest greatest hits LP replacing “Design of Decade 1986/1996″ and covering all her hits from the “Control” album all the way up to 2008’s “Discipline”. The CD also includes new single “Make Me” which was dubbed as “A Gift for the Fans”.
I love the CD which is no surprise considering I have all the songs already, but what makes this one different is that you have all the classic songs over two discs rather than having to chop and change over 6 or 7 albums. Also some of the earlier songs sound exceptionally crisp which I love, no guess some remastering was done to bring it up to par with the newer tracks.
What I love about this greatest hits has to be the varation of song styles and topics that span through the 2 discs, something which I find can only be rivaled by possibly Madonna. Both artists have re-invented themselves throughout the years and manged to have careers that spans over 2 decades. Moving more towards my point, its listening to the CD from start to finish that makes you realise how creative Janet as an artist is before even looking at her music videos. I truly think the real artistry of perfecting your craft was left in the 80s as star’s these days seem to be hooked on talking about the same things and then at last resort sampling something that was more than likely conceived in the 80s.
You have people talking about, money, cars, and sex, or to pin point it more to female artists, going to the club, getting a man, keeping your man, leaving your man and then telling all your girls about it, but what else?, where’s the substance?. Then of course you have a real artist like Janet who writes their own songs, and yes maybe covers some of those topics but also talks about the more important things in life racism, spousal abuse, children, getting a education, depression, empowering women, taking control of your life, the death of loved ones and several other things. So what astound’s me is when people come to the assumption that all Janet talks about is sex? bullsh*t. Buy the cd’s, buy this cd, listen to the messages, then talk otherwise. Cut it, keep it, seal it, get your facts in order.

Homosexuality and Religion.
The debate still flares with such passion in a modern context, in regards to homosexuality coinciding with religion. Love being the main underlying factor of both of these attributes of humanity creates a tension between the two.
From a Catholic perspective the church condemns the act of homosexuality, that is the act of sexual relations between a man and another man, or a woman and indeed another woman. The church however does not condemn same-sex attraction or personal desires so long as they are contained to within the person. For most this is completely outrageous, as they should be able to express their sexuality in a way in which they feel comfortable and safe. But before one can place the blame entirely upon the church one must understand that the church also condemns sexual practices for mere pleasure (therefore the banning of contraception). It is stated that every act of sex should be open to the creation of a human being, which is the church’s main defence when dealing with matters of homosexuality.
X Factor 3: riascoltiamo gli inediti dei semifinalisti (e quello di Damiano). Vi presentiamo il nuovo singolo di Daniele Vit
A “mente fredda” e dopo un secondo ascolto torniamo a parlare degli inediti dei quattro semifinalisti di X Factor e anche di quello di Damiano Fiorella. Giudizio complessivo: probabilmente nessuno di questi arriverà al livello di “Non ti scordar mai di me” (che però era di Tiziano Ferro…) o “Briciole“. Il migliore in senso generale è forse quello di Giuliano anche se il brano delle Yavanna ha un arrangiamento di grandissimo spessore.
MARCO MENGONI – “Dove si vola”
Il pezzo non è esattamente originalissimo. Però è molto radiofonico, ha una buona resa e sicuramente “cattura” il pubblico. Lui lo valorizza con il suo particolare modo di cantare, è il pezzo che non valorizza lui. Quando diciamo che i pezzi vanno cuciti sui cantanti, questo è un esempio: è stato detto che originariamente il brano era destinato a Chiara e infatti su di lei avrebbe fatto un altro effetto, con la sua voce cristallina ma meno “acuta”.
Marco è bravissimo e dà sapore a tutto quello che gli fanno cantare, ma con la voce che ha può cimentarsi in qualcosa di molto migliore. Se è vero che Mika ha pronto un brano per lui, siamo curiosi di sentirlo. Secondo noi sarebbe una bomba.
GIULIANO RASSU – “Ruvido”
Pezzo furbo, parecchio. Soul pop molto italiano, ottimo testo, musica coinvolgente. Sicuramente il più immediato radiofonicamente. Questo è un pezzo che esalta la vocalità appunto “ruvida” di Giuliano. Confermiamo quanto detto al primo ascolto. Ma anche il fatto che sia un brano parecchio “nostro” e che se qualcuno volesse tentare la strada dell’esportazione, c’è da cambiare registro (vale per tutti e cinque).
SILVER – “Fuori c’è il sole“
Prima che arrivino le cannonate, mettiamo i puntini sulle “I”. Nessuno ha mai detto che è un pezzo brutto. E’ una canzoncina spensierata, molto ottimista, solare, che rispecchia la personalità del ragazzo ma non il lavoro fatto su di lui. E’ troppo leggero come singolo di lancio dell’artista, ci vuole sempre qualcosa di “dirompente” (è un pò come “Suono naturale” di Ilaria nella prima edizione, pezzo bellissimo ma fiacchissimo come esordio), andava bene come secondo o terzo singolo, non come “biglietto da visita”. Come Yuri l’anno scorso, ci si attendeva molto di meglio. Il testo lascia un pò a desiderare.
YAVANNA – “Una donna migliore”
Grandissimo arrangiamento di Gaudi sulla musica di Tony Maiello, quarto nella prima edizione di X Factor. Il testo di Anita Racca (che è quella coi capelli viola, non la mora, sorry) è molto suggestivo ed evocativo. Resta la grande somiglianza nell’inciso con la strofa di “Ricominciamo” di Pappalardo, ma non vuol dire nulla. Radiofonicamente non proprio eccezionale, ma le ragazze sono fatte per cantare cose molto “alte”, con le voci che hanno.
E riascoltiamo anche l’inedito di Damiano Fiorella “Anima”, aspettando quelli molto probabili di Chiara Ranieri e Paola Canestrelli.
DAMIANO FIORELLA – “Anima”
Il testo è imbarazzante. Troppo ripetitivo, ma un pò tutto il brano punta molto sul tormentone, sulla “ipnosi” della melodia, che resta in effetti molto in testa. A noi il pezzo continua a non piacere granchè, però su I Tunes è andato bene. Aspettiamo di sentire l’album perchè l’inizio è stato un pò così.
E dulcis in fundo, eccovi la grande sorpresa: si chiama “Per sempre“ ed il nuovo singolo di Daniele Vit. Diamo spazio al cantante romano, dopo le polemiche che hanno accompagnato la sua partecipazione. In gara con gli A& K e subentrato a Chiara Rigoli prima del via per la squalifica di quest’ultima, lo troviamo ora tornare in veste di solista. “Per sempre“, è molto radiofonico e moderno, mescola il pop al rap, con la partecipazione del rapper Nesli. Pezzo interessantissimo, ma sulle qualità di Vit e sulla sua esperienza non avevamo mai dubitato. La produzione è dello stesso vit insieme con Big Fish.

X Factor 3, la semifinale, fuori Silver. L'inedito delle Yavanna sembra "Ricominciamo" di Pappalardo!
Saranno Giuliano Rassu, Marco Mengoni e le Yavanna a giocarsi la vittoria ad X Factor 3 ed il posto a Sanremo. Esce Silvio Barbieri da Treviglio detto Silver, 24 anni, dopo aver dimenticato per due settimane di fila il testo delle canzoni e dopo che gli hanno dato da cantare un inedito scialbo anzi che no (si veda sotto). Morgan batte Sony 2-0: ha demolito i pezzi inediti assegnati dallo staff (stavolta i capitani non c’entrano, nella scelta) ai suoi due cantanti ed ha pienamente ragione, sotto ne spieghiamo il perchè.
Si è lamentato che non lo fanno intervenire sugli inediti, gli rispondono che quando l’ha fatto (nella prima edizione) venne fuori l’allucinante “Chi” degli Aram Quartet, comunque vincitori. Di sicuro, hanno dato il pezzo più debole al cantante più debole. Che infatti è uscito. Hanno dato il pezzo migliore all’unico avversario di Marco, che comunque vincerà perchè basta la sua voce. Probabile podio di consolazione alle Yavanna, con un pezzo medio con assonanze già note.
Passiamo alle esecuzioni delle cover della semifinale. Tutti pezzi di alto livello, con Mara Maionchi che ha sparato altissimo assegnando addirittura Enya. Morgan punta su AC/DC e Velvet Underground. Più scontate le scelte di Claudia Mori. Cliccando sui titoli trovate gli originali dei pezzi meno noti (o meglio, di quelli i quali i titoli non vi dicono nulla, ma se ci cliccate su scoprirete che i pezzi li conoscete, eccome!).
YAVANNA (“Orinoco flow” di Enya e “Meravigliosa creatura” di Gianna Nannini poi La Vie en Rose di Edith Piaf/Grance Jones) – Su pezzi “pop” continuano a non convincerci più di tanto – il riferimento è al brano della Nannini – e questo, dovendo qui scegliere un artista pop non va a loro vantaggio (insomma: voi comprereste un loro disco? Io non so). Ma rispetto a Silver sono due spanne migliori vocalmente. Su Enya benissimo, il loro mondo è quello. Parecchio sofisticato ma di atmosfera (ma l’esecuzione solo voce e pianoforte su questo pezzo è come l’acqua minerale aperta dopo tre giorni). Velo pietoso sul completino a scacchi (calze comprese) delle tre figliole. Ottime al ballotaggio sul già sentito pezzo della Piaf in doppia versione. Le salva la Mori, giustamente.
GIULIANO RASSU (“Stand by me” di Ben E.King e “Quando” di Pino Daniele) - Dritto come un fuso a centropalco, come i cantanti degli anni’60. No, no, non va. Non diciamo che si debba agitare, ma almeno non stare li fermo. Il resto è nella norma. “Stand by me” è il suo pane e si sente. Sul pezzo di Pino Daniele fa 20 passi (record!). L’interpretazione di “Quando” è ottima, ma non ci emoziona, non lo ha mai fatto da quando è entrato. Con lui la Mori non ha mai rischiato, le piace vincere facile.E infatti va in finale (e rischia pure di insidiare Marco).
MARCO MENGONI (“Back in black” degli AC/DC e “Il cielo in una stanza” di Gino Paoli) - La solita macchina da musica. Divora tutto quello che gli danno, compreso l’heavy metal e lo ripropone con classe e stile (però va meglio su altre cose). L’arrangiamento vagamente jazzato su “Senza fine”, assegnato in corsa al posto del pezzo di Morgan è notevolissimo, sull’esecuzione ormai non c’è più nulla da dire. Presenza scenica superba. Se non vince X Factor è un delitto. Mostro assoluto. Va in finale. E tiferemo per lui.
SILVER (“Sunday morning” dei Velvet Underground e “Un piccolo aiuto” di Zucchero poi “Un’avventura” di Lucio Battisti) – Poco convicente vocalmente sul pezzo dei Velvet Underground, anche se la sua presenza scenica lo aiuta molto. Sul pezzo di Zucchero per una volta diamo ragione alla Mori, ci ha fatto sentire il timbro di voce, l’esecuzione solo col piano lo aiuta. Sicuramente è il più pop per gli standard moderni del termine, ma non è detto che sia del tutto una cosa positiva. Al ballottaggio si dimentica di nuovo le canzoni. Arrivederci, è stato un piacere.
INEDITI
YAVANNA – Una donna migliore (Anita Racca – Gaudi-Maiello)- Il problema è che l’inciso è esattamente una strofa di “Ricominciamo” di Adriano Pappalardo, anno 1979, precisamente il punto che dice “So come passi le notti è un tuo diritto io guardo e sto zitto ma penso di tutto”. No, Mara Maionchi, non sono armonie simili, è proprio la stessa melodia! Ha ragione Morgan! Grandissimo arrangiamento, bella interpretazione. Nota bene: musica di Tony Maiello, quarto a X Factor prima edizione, prodotto da Mara Maionchi. Allegria. Anita Racca è la mora delle Yavanna.
GIULIANO RASSU – Ruvido (Rassu-Calvetti-Zanotti) – Il pezzo che probabilmente lo manderà a giocarsi la vittoria finale con Marco, in maniera totalmente immeritata per il cammino percorso ma guadagnata sul campo con questa esecuzione che spazza via tutto quello che si è detto di lui. Si agita per bene sul palco, come non aveva fatto mai e ci mette grinta. Il pezzo lo sente suo, è un bel soul pop, parecchio radiofonico, coinvolgente. Entra nelle orecchie al primo ascolto e questo conta molto.
MARCO MENGONI – Dove si vola.- Scopriamo che questo era l’inedito che doveva essere di Chiara. E te credo. E’ senz’altro più adatto a lei che a lui che però come dice Morgan è talmente bravo che dà sapore anche all’elenco del telefono. Come Chiara. Che su questo pezzo avrebbe sfondato di sicuro. Su Marco è un pezzo carino, gradevole, parecchio radiofonico, ma niente che valorizzi le sue immense doti vocali. Si poteva fare immensamente meglio, invece gli stanno preparando la strada per Sanremo. Perchè vincerà lui X Factor e a Sanremo gli daranno una cosa così. Elio, quarto giudice, travestito da Village People ha detto una cosa giusta: se Marco lavora bene sulla sua voce può diventare il Mika italiano.
SILVER – Fuori c’è il sole (Barbieri- Cecere) – Quando l’artista stesso ti dice in diretta, dopo averlo cantato, che sto pezzo non gli piace, qualche dubbio dovrebbe venire. O no? Per carità, è una canzoncina leggera, anche carina in fondo. Però se questo deve essere il singolo d’esordio, francamente è imbarazzante. Andava bene come traccia 7 dell’album. Anche perchè poi sembrava di vedere Gianni Morandi prima maniera. Si fischietta, ma è poco dirompente. Lui già non ha una gran voce, se lo azzeri con un pezzo così fiacco in partenza, è finita. Il testo è sui livelli dell’inedito di Yuri l’anno scorso, lascia parecchio a desiderare. Cade dal palco come Jovanotti a Sanremo, comunque vada è di buon auspicio per la carriera…

Atlanta – More Than Funky
Hade egentligen planerat att ta en liten middagslur då jag är rätt trött idag. Har varit i Nässjö på förmiddagen och provat ut nya glasögon. Hade lixom bestämt mig för att prova på en lågprisoptiker den här gången och ingen av de två optiker vi har här i Eksjö faller inom den kategorin. Så då bidde det Specsavers som finns i Nässjö vilket inte ligger längre bort än att man tar bussen dit på lite drygt en halvtimme.
Så nu är det bara att vänta på besked att mina nya glasögon ska bli klara vilket beräknas ske inom två veckor, sen får jag ta en ny utflykt och åka över och hämta dem. För den som undrar lite om vad ett par glasögon kan gå på hos Specsavers så kostade mina 1325:-.

Har märkligt nog fått bättre syn på ena ögat vilket har fått mig att tro att jag fått sämre syn på det andra vilket inte var fallet. Däremot så har brytningsfelet jag har ändrat sig lite så där behövdes en justering.
Ja, det var lite om mina glasögonaffärer, inte så mycket discoglamour över det, men so what, det är min blogg så då får ni räkna med att det kan bli lite sånt ibland. Men jag försöker hålla mig till musiken i första hand och då är den här låten ett kalasexempel på hur man hela tiden hittar nya favoriter. Den här hörde jag såklart på nätradion Funk365 som jag skrev om igår. Ett riktigt glädjepiller som får en på bra humör nu när det är så mörkt och grått ute.

Michael Jackson: El Cantante se Lleva Cuatro American Musica Awards

LOS ÁNGELES, Estados Unidos, nov. 23, 2009.- Michael Jackson ganó cuatro premios American Music Awards el domingo e hizo historia al llevarse más de estos premios en su carrera que ningún otro artista, pero no pudo vencer a Taylor Swift como artista favorito del año, el principal galardón de la noche.
Además, Jackson se convirtió en el artista con más premios póstumos en los AMA.
Swift, de 19 años se llevó el premio mayor, sumando cinco trofeos en total y propinando a Jackson su única derrota de la noche.
Michael estaba nominado para cinco premios, apenas uno menos que Swift, la artista con más nominaciones. El difunto cantante se llevó los premios al artista masculino favorito en las categorías de pop y rock y de soul y R&B. Su álbum compilado del 2003 Number Ones se llevó los galardones de álbum favorito también en ambas categorías.
La única otra categoría en que estaba nominado era el de artista del año, donde los otros derrotados fueron Lady Gaga, Kings of Leon y Eminem. Taylor ya había ganado mejor artista femenina de pop y rock y su disco Fearless ganó como mejor álbum de country.
Jermaine Jackson aceptó los premios en nombre de su hermano y lo homenajeó al vestir un guante blanco con brillantes incrustados. Agradeció a Alá “por bendecir a toda mi familia” y nombró a cada uno de sus hermanos y hermanas. Agregó que el mensaje de su hermano es más importante que cualquier premio.
“El mensaje que Michael tenía vivirá para siempre”, dijo. “El veía lo bueno de todas las personas y quería que todos hicieran el bien. Siempre empezaba con amor”.
Lady Gaga no fue la artista más nominada de los premios pero sin duda fue la animadora más interesante del espectáculo.
Con un chaleco lleno de luces, la cantante de 23 años tocó una mezcla de las canciones de su nuevo álbum The Fame Monster (El monstruo de la fama), que se lanza la semana próxima. Usó el micrófono para romper una caja de cristal donde estaba un piano de cola que se prendió fuego cuando ella se sentó a tocar; Lady Gaga tuvo tres nominaciones.
Los premios AMA reconocen a los artistas más vendedores del año en ocho géneros populares, pero lo más importante del espectáculo de entrega suelen ser las actuaciones.
Los Black Eyed Peas, ganadores de mejor banda de pop y rock, levantaron a la audiencia cuando tocaron dos de los éxitos más grandes del año: “I got a feeling” y “Boom boom pow”.
También Rihanna regresó al escenario de los AMA, con cabellos rubios, un traje ajustado blanco y un tatuaje en su cuello que decía Rated R, el nombre del disco que lanza la semana que viene, que se refiere a la calificación que reciben las películas no aptas para menores.

Stone cold sober – Del Amitri
“Ya están aquí las colas en las administraciones de loterías de la Puerta del Sol. Nos encaminamos inequívocamente hacia la Navidad”. No, este blog no se va a llenar ni ahora ni dentro de un mes de guirnaldas, espumillones o de un belén rockero. Es solo una constatación del transcurso del tiempo, que es en lo que él pensaba mientras entraba en una conocida franquicia de cafés caros y servidos de tu puño y letra, que empieza y termina por S y que queda cerca de Sevilla.
En esa misma acera, la Historia, ese paso del tiempo que nos han contado, de Madrid y, por extensión durante muchos años, de toda España ha estado presente. Era una zona financiera, en la que, como diría Dylan, estar en la calle “pensando en el Gobierno”, esta vez sin un diplomático ni un gato siamés. En otras calles se piensa en sobrevivir o en pasarlo bien.
Estuvo allí el tiempo suficiente para observar cómo, mientras la nieve va cubriendo las grietas del suelo, un derrochador compra cigarrillos y un billete caducado de la once. Estas calles, que tan bien solía conocer, ya están decoradas ridículamente como un Elvis temporal y con un olor artificial que no les corresponden. Ahora todo es una réplica de lo que solía ser y parece más un lugar en el que vivir que el sitio en el que vives.
Lo sé porque me contó que en esas calles se acordaba de ella, de los lugares en los que se encontraban, los sitios en los que se besan y que ahora se ha convertido en un lugar vacío, que solo seduce ya a los consumistas. Dice que hay veces en las que vendería su alma (si es que no la poseen otros ya) para simplemente quedarse viéndola fumar. Su ciudad ha dejado de ser una ciudad para convertirse en un lugar en el que ya no suenan canciones de amor. Ya no hay cabinas, los bancos son de diseño y hay que cruzar por el paso de cebra. A ciertas horas, los solteros ya no llaman a sus amigos para tomar algo y cada tres coches hay un taxi. Definitivamente, hay noches en las que los marcianos podrían aterrizar en el aparcamiento y a nadie le importaría.
Tantas veces ha pensado “múdate antes de que esta pequeña ciudad se vuelva y te devore”. Pero, un nuevo manojo de llaves para una ciudad nueva… En ocasiones el remedio es peor que la enfermedad. Puedes ocultar tu procedencia, pero ya se sabe que el antiguo propietario siempre conserva las llaves. A veces, distinguir la verdad de la mentira es como tratar de separar el hielo de la nieve. Así que se toma su tiempo, porque en el fondo todos estamos enamorados del tiempo.
La navidad viene y la ciudad se engalanará como una fulana. La gente comprará lotería sin acordarse de que el año pasado solo le tocó pagar, una vez más. Estos días tan oscuros hacen parecer las noches más luminosas.

Underbart funky…..
Active Force – Rise Up
Kan inte påminna mig att jag någonsin har hört det här gänget innan. Men musiken är ju helt underbart funky så jag är glad att jag i alla fall hittat dem på lite äldre dar. Annars kan jag ju säga att den här låten hade varit given som förfestlåt i mitten på 80-talet. Den hade nog oxå snurrat i min freestylebandare som jag hade med mig överallt på den tiden.

Starving for sunlight?
U.S.E. has been around since about 2004, a electro group formed after posing to be a group in a Seatle night club and loving the enthusiasm the crowd had, they formed the band United States of Electronica. The group has a few EPs out and 2 albums, one having been released this August. I’ve heard about U.S.E. a few times but their track “River of Love” really caught my attention. This song has the ability to completely change my day around. There is a complete charm to it despite its a quite obvious tacky/cheesy nature. River of Love seems to almost have an anthem quality to it, a song that could define a moment in your life. Reminds me of a less house version of Daft Punk with a sprinkle of bubblegum pop and 1970’s rock. Part of me wishes I had discovered it back in June, drinks and dancing to this song would be nothing short of amazing. Check out the disco-pop and prepare to dance.

New York-based indie pop band Clare & The Reasons (Clare Muldaur, Olivier Manchon and Bob Hart, mainly) should not be dismissed as yet another frivolous romp through the format field of other artists in the genre. Clare & The Reasons combine their talents to create their meticulously composed sophomore album, Arrow.
Featuring My Brightest Diamond’s Shara Worden (on “This is the Story”) and a cover of Genesis’ “That’s All,” this album is sure to span a unique range of musicality. Most of the songs feature a lovely string orchestra of violins, violas and cello, often backed by heavy bass drums and Muldaur’s whimsical, almost childlike vocalizations. In addition to this diverse span of instruments, expect to hear some French horn, synths and lighthearted kazoo in the mix.
Tracks such as “All the Wine” and “Ooh You Hurt Me So,” truly exemplify Muldaur’s hauntingly simplistic vocals, while still revealing the painstakingly precise compositional steps made to present this work of true artistry that spans multiple genres.

Vem aí Manu Chao
Navegando pelo site do Manu Chao, descobri que o cantor e banda Radio Bemba Sound System voltam ao país em dezembro, para três shows da Tombola Tour. Depois de concertos na Argentina e Chile, Manu e Radio Bemba baixam em 8 de dezembro, na Concha Acústica de Salvador; em 10 de dezembro, na Fundição Progresso, no Rio; e 12/12, na Biruta, em Fortaleza. Pelo jeito, parece que desta vez Sampa ficou fora da rota. Vamos encarar uma turnê para ver a Tombola Tour de novo? Jemma Griffiths was born in 1975 in Wales. Jem began writing and singing songs at the age of 13 but instead of going into music she attended Sussex University for a Law degree. She spent her college years working as a DJ agent and even helped to set up and run the label Marine Parade.
It was in 1999 that she set up her own mobile recording studio in order to help with her music promotion efforts. She used this studio to create four demos for herself.
In 2002 she caught a break when one of her demo songs was played on the radio. The track ended up being the most listener requested song at the station and put Jem in as one of the station’s top 5 artists played. The popularity of the track gained the attention of the ATO label who soon signed Jem.
She released an EP in 2003 entitled It All Starts Here and an album Finally Woken in 2004.
After the release of her first album she went to work on another but not before writing and performing songs for movies and television. She wrote the song “Once in a Lifetime” for the movie Eragon and her first single off of her second album, “It’s Amazing” was used in the Sex and the City movie.
In 2008 she released her second album Down to Earth.

The xx - Basic Space
The xx es un grupo londinense muy joven formado en 2005 y cuyos componentes son Romy Madley, Baria Qureshi, Oliver Sim y Jamie Smith. En agosto pasado editaron su primer álbum de nombre XX y son la revelación de la temporada lo que les ha proporcionado una cantidad enorme de fechas de actuaciones provocando que Baria Quresh deje la banda. Este vídeo lo ha dirigido Anthony Dickenson. Más información en su página y MySpace.
Esce oggi "Cioccolato amaro e caffè", il nuovo album di Matteo Beccucci
Ancora Jim Diamond, stavolta con i suoi Ph. D, per il nuovo lavoro di Matteo Beccucci. Esce oggi “Cioccolato nero e caffè”, primo album di inediti del vincitore dell’edizione numero 2 di X Factor. Otto tracce, con una sola cover. Quella che Beccucci ha scelto come singolo di lancio. Si tratta – la trovate sopra – di “Ti troverò“, versione italiana di “I didn’t know“, brano dei Ph. D del 1983, dei quali appunto Jim Diamond era il leader e cantante.
Per stessa ammissione di Beccucci, il lavoro è un pò la continuazione dell’Ep “Impossibile”, disco d’oro con 60mila copie vendute, che conteneva un altro pezzo di Jim Diamond vale a dire “I Should have known better“, del 1984. Beccucci ha raccontato che avrebbe voluto cantare dentro X Factor proprio “I didn’t know” invece del pezzo di cui sopra, che gli fu assegnato da Morgan. Si è rifatto in questo album, scrivendo insieme a il testo italiano di “Ti troverò”, sulla musica originale. Aspettiamo le altre tracce, ci torneremo.

Tubelord - Our First American Friends
What struck me about Tubelord when i first got their Feed Me A Box Of Words EP was their youthful exuberance and boyish charm. The trio from Kingston-upon-Thames didn’t take themselves too seriously, crafting titillating math pop to get your toes tapping and a smile on your face. Well a year has passed since that EP and Tubelord have just released their debut full length. I was really excited to get hold of this as mostly everything i had heard from them before struck a chord with me. But, alas, my excitement was short-lived. Our First American Friends bounds along at a satisfactory pace, but i can’t help but feel the band have played it safe, with only the old favourites Night Of Pencils and I Am Azzarad providing any real compassion and edge. Sporadically the band demonstrate what they are truly capable of, with intricate melodies and jubilant vocal harmonies, however these moments fade all too easily into the generically obscure landscape of the album.
I’ll post up the Feed Me A Box Of Words EP if anyone is interested, just holler.
Lady Gaga Finally BRINGS it
Electronica meets pop meets fashionista.
That’s Lady Gaga.
She is known for her outrageous and obscene yet hard to resist style and music. She is one of a kind.
In her newest single, “Bad Romance,” it begins with a classical melody that sounds like something played during a ballroom dance during the victorian period. It is tweaked by being played on an electronic keyboard of some sort. Then begins to layer with keyboard and vocals followed by bass.
The Chorus makes the song a dance floor hit. It has a catchy melody and lyrics:”I want your love/And I want your revenge/You and me could write a bad romance.”
It all comes together with the bridge where Gaga mixes english and french in the lyrics that brings a sexy, mysterious feeling to the song.
Feel free to make this your newest guilty pleasure, because Lady Gaga has done it again.

La Oreja de Van Gogh ricantano i loro successi con l'orchestra di Bratislava (con un pezzo in basco)
Hanno cambiato cantante a partire dal disco scorso, sostituendo l’uscente Amaia Montero con Leire Martinez e adesso ci riprovano, sull’onda del successo de “A las 5 en el Astoria”. I baschi La Oreja de Van Gogh hanno lanciato il loro nuovo lavoro “Nuestra casa a la izquierda del tiempo”.
Non un disco di brani nuovi, ma una riesecuzione di vecchi successi (degli album precedenti, quelli cantati da Amaia Montero) riarrangiati e suonati con l’Orchestra sinfonica di Bratislava. E naturalmente cantati da Leire. In alto trovate la nuova versione di “Cuentame al oido“, che era nel primo album “Dile al sol”.
Qui invece trovate un omaggio alla loro terra e alla loro città San Sebastian con il canto tradizionale “Loa Loa”, appunto in lingua basca. Da “El viaje de Copperpot” ecco invece “La playa“. la bellissima “20 de enero”, è invece tratto da “Lo que te conté mientra te hacia la dormida“.
Ancora, in sequenza, ecco le nuove versioni di “Muneca de trapo“, “Rosas“, la molto armonica “Soledad“, la dolcissima “Deseos de cosas imposibles“. E ancora “Jueves“, dedicato alle vittime dell’attentato di Madrid, dall’ultimo album, riadattata con un grandissimo arrangiamento orchestrale, “Paris”, “Puedes contar conmigo“.
Altro brano già cantato nella prima versione da Leire è “El ultimo vals“, primo singolo del precedente lavoro, davvero riarrangiata in maniera straordinaria, con il quasi azzeramento della base ritmica, l’aggiunta dei cori e pianoforte e violini come strumenti base. Grosso capolavoro. Per tutti quelli che parlano male dei talent show: la voce di Leire Martinez è straordinaria. Bene, lei è un prodotto del locale Operazione Trionfo.

Vernissage "AMYLEE en privé"
Amylee : Un style fashion’Art où la peinture se veut clairement Pop et Glamour !
Jeudi soir, je me suis rendue à un vernissage fort sympathique. Malgré le temps et la nuit qui tombait déjà, j’ai été rencontrer cette artiste que je ne connais que via le web.
Pétillante et très accueillante, Amylee vous invite dans son univers Pop, mode et paillettes. Toujours inspirée, par les clichés de VOGUE ou de l’OFFICIEL l’artiste reproduit des photos de mode sur des toiles en relief.
Les tons sont chauds, les couleurs sont vives, les silhouettes sont structurées et relevées, temps à autres, par une touche de fluo, de paillettes ou de doré.
Aymelee suit les saisons des défilés et révèle la fashion attitude sous un autre jour. Les toiles étaient suspendues sur des cintres, comme le seraient des pièces de hautes coutures. Une idée originale qui complétait l’idée de complémentarité entre stylisme et peinture.
Un lieu très agréable, un accueil et une ambiance très décontractés, des explications volontaires et claires, un bon DJ house-lounge pour lier le tout…Shaker ! Vous obtiendrez le cocktail du vernissage réussi !

Janet Jackson - Scheduled For X-Factor Performance
Superstar Janet Jackson is set to perfrom at the X-Factor semi-finals on December 6th. A source at ITV UK has said the performance is definatley scheduled and they are even trying to persuade her to mentor the acts awsell.
Also that day Janet is confirmed to be performing at Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball in the O2 Arena.
Following all the internet rumours, I’m really glad to hear this it’s great promo for her and help’s to re establish her fanbase in the UK.
I’ve got dibs on her either performing a Medley or her new single for the upcoming greatest hits “Make Me” maybe even both, who knows.

Cheryl Cole - Boy Like You
I don’t normally post videos that don’t have proper videos (either PVs or stage performances) but this song has been in my head for a little while. Cheryl Cole has seemingly set the UK charts on fire with her solo debut. I won’t talk too much about it, because I’ll just start criticising her. I’ve not been overly impressed by the songs that I’ve heard (literally, go into any shop and you’ll hear her soon enough – sometimes the whole album just on repeat!) but one song that I quite like is Boy Like You. It samples the awesome Fleetwood Mac’s White Lies and features will.i.am as guest rapper/general mentor man. Cole’s offering is nowhere near as good as White Lies, let’s get that straight. But it’s made quite good because of the sample. I love 80s music like it’s going out of fashion (quite literally) so to hear this is quite cool. What do you think?

iPhone Saves the World From Swine Flu: Apple/Google consider joining the game of the pharmaceutical giants...
This is such a hilarious article I had to share it!
When you thought that only Pharmaceutical companies were the ones making a buck from the soapbox preached swine flu epidemic, think again. Apple/Google sense blood in the water and are salivating over a piece of the pie too…
iPhone Swine Flu Tracker app will help you stay clear of the VirusThe Swine Flu virus epidemic is certainly a serious issue that one shouldn’t take lightly. In light of this, a Swine Flu Tracker app for the iPhone is apparently ready for public use and is, in fact, just waiting for approval for distribution in the App Store.
IntuApps is the company behind this app which will hopefully help educate people as to the current status of this virus and its various symptoms. We still don’t know when it will get approved, but news of such a very useful and informative app just waiting for the go signal from Apple is good enough on its own. What’s even better is that, from what we hear, it will also be offered free of charge.
With no clear sign that the epidemic will be over soon, the Swine Flu Tracker app will definitely be helpful in the coming months to stay clear of the contagious virus. We’re just hoping that it doesn’t take long for Apple to see the value of this app and finally approve it for distribution in their App Store.
